Golf Score Cards – All You Need to Know

“I’ve spent most of my life golfing – the rest I’ve just wasted.”

Golf – The Most Popular Game in the World

It is estimated that more that 50 million people worldwide play golf regularly. The enormous success of such a seemingly simple game is undoubtably due to its unique combination of factors.

These factors include player diversity – golf can be readily played by all ages both men and women. The handicap system is a golfing innovation which levels the playing field enabling golf to be competitively enjoyed by players of varying skill.

Another factor is the golf course itself – a well manicured golf course provides a beautiful parkland setting for outdoor game play. And finally, it must be said that regular golfing inspires in many the drive to continually improve – it is a game that looks easy, but is difficult to master – where the perfect golf swing is challengingly elusive.

How to Use a Golf Score Card

The purpose of a Golf Score Card is to keep track of your score when golfing. Every golf course has its own Score Card. The Score Card includes such information as each hole’s length, its par, and its rating relative to the other holes.

Keeping the Score

Stroke play requires use of a Golf Score Card. In stroke play every shot hit is counted and the number recorded on the card.

Simply count one stroke each time a swing is made at the ball. If it takes 5 stokes to play the first hole, write 5 on your Golf Score Card for that hole. The convention however is that you don’t record your own score – the card which you are scoring belongs to your opponent. You keep their score throughout the game – and they keeps yours.

At the end of the round cards are checked, signed and (if playing a tournament) handed to official scorers.

Customised Golf Score Cards

Professionally designed golf score cards combine functionality with an attractive visual design.

A custom designed Golf Score Card can include additional information such as course maps, photos, graphics and even hole by hole and pin placement information from satellite data. Specially designed Golf Score Cards are a great way to further promote your club and provide valuable information to players when on your course.
