5 Ways To Use Hashtags To Drive Business Engagement

5 Ways to Add Value to Your Business with Hashtags

I think Twitter is best when it sparks conversations elsewhere. To use YouTube and Facebook and all the tools we have available to us today to respond and also promote and answer and engage is awesome.
Jack Dorsey

Use hashtags to propel audience engagement

The hashtag first came to popularity in 2007 on Twitter, and since then, Twitter has seen this messaging technique explode across all social media platforms.

Whichever social media platform you are using - hashtags are there.

Take a closer look around you each day. You cannot escape them. Hashtags are now used on billboards, websites, print advertisements, and more - just about anywhere and everywhere a company advertises their services and products.

Learn how to harness the power of the hashtag and get more people actively engaged in your conversation online.

Here are 5 ways that hashtags can drive business value and explode your customer base at the same time.

1. Encouraging Users to Generate Content

Using hashtags is unlike traditional business marketing.

In a traditional advertising scenario - information is relayed in one direction only. The message goes from the company to the consumer and ends there.

Social marketing platforms have completely opened up communication channels.

Via the 'social media pipeline' you can send messages to consumers, who then use hashatgs to interact and share your information with their network. When you simply insert a hashtag into one of your advertising messages, you are in a sense inviting customers to participate in a conversation. If you can incorporate sweepstakes, contests, or giveaways into the message, you will begin to see a larger audience on Facebook, Twitter, and Vine participating in your campaigns.

A strategic use of hashtags can encourage users to share your message - and generate related content. This is key to growing your audience and user engagement.

2. Showcasing User Content

If your business is looking for unique ways to showcase user-generated content, hashtags give you the opportunity to achieve that goal.

Incorporate user-generated videos, photographs, info graphics and comments into your social media streams. Use relevant hashtags to promote the content. Invite feedback. Encourage interaction and responses from other users. Offer incentives and rewards to involvement. Hashtags provide a great way to promote your message and showcase user-generated content to your audience.

3. Connecting the Campaigns

The hashtag may appear small at first, but it does have tremendous power and can accomplish amazing things : one of which is being able to connect all of your efforts together.

For example, hashtags could be utilised in a promotional campaign where you have a giveaway for your customers, who simply have to make use of the hashtag to participate. In this scenario, your hashtag begins to grow in popularity and attracts a brand new audience, expanding your audience at lightning fast speed. Expand your campaign to include email marketing where you can connect with your new audience long term. By co-ordinating all your efforts together, you can streamline the process and allow the hashtag to really expand your customer base.

4. Repurposing All That Content

If your hashtag is encouraging user-generated content, why not use that content in other ways to expand your viewing audience?

Choose the high quality images or videos, and use them on your other social media profile pages. The hashtag will allow you to keep your audience connected throughout.

5. Relating to Your Customers in Real Time

Whenever there is an event that attracts global attention, the world participates in the action via their social platforms. Simply by incorporating the latest hashtag for the event, people are able to get involved with the action in real time.

Smart companies position themselves in that global conversation simply by joining in. By focusing on the event, you can use that conversation to get in front of an enormous crowd and introduce your brand to a new audience. If you do it right, you have the opportunity for your message to go viral and reach more people within seconds.

Is Your Website Ready for Mobilegeddon?

by Saul Edmonds

Well maybe not Mobilegeddon, but for many websites around the globe it may as well be with Google's major algorithm change that started 21st of April.

This new algorithm will be gradually rolled out worldwide, affecting mobile searches in all languages in all corners of the globe.

This April 21 Google update looks to be the biggest mobile-related algorithm change we’ve ever seen, but I'll bet that it won't be the last. If you don’t have a mobile or responsive version of your site in place by April 21 (today), your search visibility could be seriously hindered.

How to prepare
If your site is already mobile-friendly or responsive, you won’t have much to worry about. However, if you have not yet implemented a mobile strategy for your online presence, now is the critical time to get it done. Follow these steps:

  • Ensure the mobile version of your site is active and functional. Responsive designs are the most popular, but you can also have a separate hosted mobile version of your site. Google doesn’t have a preference, as long as mobile users’ experience isn’t interrupted.
  • Ensure Google’s mobile bots can crawl your site. If Google can’t see it, it may as well not even be there.
  • Check each individual page of your site on a mobile device to ensure navigability. Just because your home page is mobile friendly doesn’t mean the rest of your site is.

Google additionally offers two tools you can use to check whether your site is mobile-friendly. First, you can use the appropriately named Mobile-Friendly Test to see whether your site meets initial qualifications. Google Webmaster Tools also contains a convenient Mobile Usability Report you can run to examine your website as Google sees it.

If you are looking to move to a New Responsive Website or Mobile Version of your existing site we have a great offer for the next month with 20% off all New Responsive Websites - See below and Contact us Today

4 Ways to Build Customer Relationships with Social Media

    by Saul Edmonds

How To Use Social Media to Grow Customer Relationships

“Do the one thing you think you cannot do. Fail at it. Try again. Do better the second time. The only people who never tumble are those who never mount the high wire. This is your moment. Own it.” - Oprah Winfrey

    Build Your Brand Reputation

How your brand is perceived online will influence the behaviour of visitors to your website.

Studies have shown that positive interaction with a company via social media significantly impacts purchase decisions. A genuine two way communication between company and consumer enhances conversion and serves to build long term loyalty.

In our age of the internet, people still place high value on personal service and one to one attention.

Social media is the ideal channel to broaden your reach and strengthen the delivery of your customer service.

Here are 4 top ways to build customer relationships with social media.

    1. Engage Your Customers

Interaction with your social media followers needs to be more impactful and personal than generic responses to inquires or feedback.

If a customer is taking the time to post on your business profile, take the time to reply. Even a small reply of thanks will have a genuine impact and establishes a connection. Remember also that you are not just affecting that one consumer. Anyone who is viewing your social profile is taking notes about how you interact with people.

Aim to provide world class communication - and convert your visitors into buyers.

    2. Respond to Feedback

Don't just post replies to positive feedback - jump in and take a proactive approach if occasional poor feedback shows up. These types of feedback might sting, but if you can reply professionally and offer the consumer the opportunity to either talk directly with you, or to follow up with them and resolve the issue, it shows you are taking immediate interest in their problem and doing everything possible to fix it. If a consumer retweets one of your messages, take the time to thank them for doing that. It will encourage them to continue this in the future.

    3. Encourage Interaction

If followers on your social media profile are posting helpful content for other users, be sure to thank them. Take the time to repost their messages across your other social platforms. If you receive comments, immediately follow up with a reply or like the post. If there is a conversation taking place, jump right in and offer some advice, tips, or helpful techniques to assist.

Keep your finger on the pulse of your social pages. Your active involvement ensures visitors will view you as a trusted expert who is there when they need you.

    4. Just Have Fun

Social media is all about people being social and having fun.

Take time each week to post images, personal updates or even humorous information related to your niche. Let your audience know more about you. Many of your consumers are not used to interacting with the owner of a company, so let them know you are approachable and understanding.

Taking the time to just brighten someone’s day can have far reaching effects - in the future, when they are ready to buy.

3 Key Social Networking Strategies To Build Your Business

"Networking is an essential part of building wealth."
    Armstrong Williams

    Outbound Marketing vs Inbound Marketing

Traditional paid advertising still works - although, social networking has arisen over the past few years as a powerful complimentary strategy.

Inbound marketing refers to the practice of offering value (in the forms of online information, entertainment, community) to your audience - for free.

Customers and prospects make use of this value - by reading, downloading and sharing relevant content - and progressively build trust with a company. Over time, loyalty develops towards this company and brand, as a trusted provider of quality goods or services.

A brand is effectively promoted by the value they offer to their audience.

Social networking is the process of making connections with people online.

Together, social networking and quality content form the basis of an inbound marketing strategy.

    Social Networking for Business Growth

Find new ways to integrate social media into your marketing efforts.

Social media builds trust. People trust the opinions of others - their friends, family and online communities.

    Studies indicate that:

    • 70% of people trust online opinions
    • 92% of people follow recommendations from friends and family

Use the power of trust and grow your business with social networking.

    1. Use Social Networking for Audience Acquisition

Develop a creative and consistent cross channel marketing campaign. Quality content is essential. Develop content that people will find relevant, informative, interesting or entertaining. Genuine value must be present.

Take time to identify who your is your target audience - and what information would resonate most effectively with them. Aim to deliver quality content of the highest value, that will motivate people to actively share.

    2. Use Social Networking to Build Community

Create your own social networking community. Find and actively participate in online communities relevant to your niche.

Create trust and support for your business via these communities. Seek to establish your own community with both online and offline activities that are relevant to your audience.

    3. Use Social Networking to Showcase your Expertise

Find innovative ways to bring your expertise to your connections. Aim to assist - never to sell.

Publish your knowledge in a format that is readily sharable. Your business will gain credibility and your audience will benefit.

Invite other industry 'thought leaders' to participate. Develop proactive partnerships that compliment your expertise and experience.

Social Networking builds momentum. The more actively you engage with your audience - the more momentum you achieve. The more you give - the more your gain. Your key benefits are: more exposure, wider reach, higher levels of engagement and increased brand loyalty.

A genuine commitment to serving your customers - and developing more innovative ways to do so - is key to taking full advantage of the opportunities that social networking offers to every business today.
