13 Steps To Creating Leads on Twitter

by Saul Edmonds

13 Steps To Using Twitter for Lead Generation

Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy and mutual valuing.
Rollo May

Simple Ways to Use Twitter To Grow Leads & Opportunities for Your Business

Growing your Twitter following is very important.

Twitter provides the opportunity to reach a global audience with every 'tweet' that you make.

One popular post can get retweeted and favorited by new followers who have the potential to share that message with their inner circle instantly.

Being able to generate leads on Twitter is not as difficult as you might think. Take the time to consider these 13 steps for creating Twitter leads and you could see an explosion in your client base in a very short time.

1. Surveying Your Twitter Followers

Ask your audience how your business can solve their problems. Ask your current followers to share their professional concerns. Survey your audience and see how they reply. This will give you an insight as to how you can target your potential leads on Twitter.

2. Offering a Unique Solution

Once you identify what the biggest problem that your audience has, either create a product or promote one that addresses their needs. This can often open the gates and transform followers into loyal customers.

3. Educating Your Customers

Take the time to create a simple report that you can give away for free that focuses on a problem your audience has and how your company can help them solve that problem.

4. Video or Report Landing Page

Once you grab the customers attention on how your business can solve a problem, give them a link to a related landing page on your website. The landing page must be stand alone, meaning it has no distractions on it other that the information you promised.

5. Collecting Contact Information

The only information that should be on this landing page is the description of the problem, and what they are going to learn from getting this video or free report. The purpose here is to collect email contact information in exchange for the report or video. There is no need to waste time talking about the product, your goal here is simple.

6. Email Tools for Marketing

An email auto responder will allow you to respond to new email contacts automatically. It can also send out a thank you message once the customer enters their information on the landing page.

7. Download Page

After the lead enters their information on the landing page, they will be redirected to a new page where you can thank them again and give them the link to the video or free report.

8. Getting Traffic to That Landing Page

Now to increase your leads you need to send a Tweet with the link to the landing page on it. In the space of that short Tweet - address a problem and hint at the solution. Use an URL shortener so that you can utilize those 140 spaces with text.

9. Auto Respond Messages

Now that visitors have filled out their contact information on the landing page, send out a series of messages. The first goes right after they access the free information, then remind them how to upload the information, followed by a message that asks them to share their experience and encourage others to grab the information.

10. The Importance of Reminders

Each day for a week you need to send out a reminder to your subscribers. These messages can explain how you have helped others with a similar problem or give examples of how you turned others around. Keep the information light and friendly.

11. Never Sell the Product Yet

Now is not the time to be promoting your product or trying to solicit sales. Just keep focusing those messages on WHY they need to make a change.

12. How to Solve the Problem

The last email you send should address the solution to the problem. Now that your subscribers understand how that problem can be solved, you are open to begin conversation incorporating the different products and services you provide that will address that specific issue effectively.

13. Rinse and Repeat

Look for unique problems that your company can address and get to work repeating the process all over again. You can have several email databases that focus on different products and services. This will allow you to build a long lasting relationship with targeted audiences.

5 Ways To Follow Up Better and Grow Relationships

by Saul Edmonds

Learn to Be Remarkable at the Follow Up

I like to think of sales as the ability to gracefully persuade, not manipulate, a person or persons into a win-win situation.
Bo Bennett

How to Grow Sales With the Follow Up

One of the reasons that many marketers are missing the mark with their networking efforts is that they simply neglect to follow up afterwards.

It really is quite simple if you think about it.

You go through all that effort to start a business relationship, you get all the contact information and create engaging conversation, you even discuss meeting up again in the near future, but for whatever reason - that follow up call doesn't materialise in a timely manner.

The conversation runs cold or dry, and the progress that was made is all but gone.

Reaching out to a contact is so easy many marketers miss the mark here and simply focus on more challenging issues.

Here are some simple tips for learning how to be remarkable at the follow up:

1. The Same Day Follow Up

The ideal situation for calling back your contact is a few hours after the meeting. While that initial meeting is still fresh on their mind, give them a quick call.

Too many marketers wait a few days or even a week to follow up with a call, but the contact has already shifted their attention on to other pressing issues. There are going to be hundreds of things that need your attention each day, the same is true for your contact. You can not expect them to remember your conversation days later after having dealt with so many other issues.

A simple call will go a long way in growing that relationship.

2. Recalling Something Important

If there was a particular highlight of that conversation, bring it up during the follow up call.

It might have been as simple as the two of you having a common friend or acquaintance, but remind your contact about the subject so they can easily connect again with you. If you were able to create an emotional connection with your contact, this call can be especially powerful. If you can evoke some memory from the initial meeting you can easily nudge that person to respond or read the email you are sending.

3. Creating Immediate Value

If you can create value for the other person in the follow up, you won half the battle.

Being able to show value will set you apart from all the other people trying to get this persons attention today. Whether that value is in savings they will make long term by working with you or simply the fact they like working with you as a person, highlighting the benefit will make this process go much easier. The contact almost feels obligated to help you because the connection is so strong.

4. Social Media Follow Up

If you want to give the contact a way to connect with you on a more personal level, reach out to them through one of your social media profiles.

This way you can make the follow up and leave them with the chance to look around on their own time and get to see what you are really about. A contact can learn quite a lot about a person by simply interacting on the social profile.

Send them a friend request through your most used social platform so you can interact with them in a timely way if they do respond via that forum. Your contact will learn more about your strengths and how you conduct business more from looking at your profile that your words could ever say.

5. Scheduling the Next Meeting

The first meeting is the most challenging for several reasons.

Now that you have your foot in the door, the next meeting is much easier.

You have developed some rapport with the new contact, so now you need to strengthen that new relationship by setting up your next meeting. Choose a meeting time that is beneficial for your contact, and confirm the time and date in a follow up message.

Keeping that momentum going is the key to growing this relationship.

Most networkers drop the ball here, they do all that initial leg work, then simply sit back and wait for the contact to come running to them. Your contact is busy in their own world, so if you think sitting on your hands is a good strategy, you are going to be waiting a long time.

Keep the ball rolling and reach out to meet again.

10 Ways To Make Word of Mouth Marketing Work for You

by Saul Edmonds

How To Make Word of Mouth Marketing Work for Your Business

Word-of-mouth marketing is a crucial component of organic growth for startups and one of the primary ways that Weebly has grown to over 15 million customers.
David Rusenko

Use the Power of Word of Mouth

One of the most powerful tools in your marketing strategy is word-of-mouth campaigns.

This type of advertising actually generates high quality referrals because they are coming to you from a trusted source rather than finding you through other mediums. The biggest benefit to the word-of-mouth campaigns is they literally cost a fraction of traditional advertising methods.

Here is a list of the 10 things you must do to improve your word-of-mouth marketing campaigns:

1. Making a One Page Flyer

This flyer should be simple in design and basically give a quick overview of your business. Keep these handy and be ready to pass them out throughout the day to any prospective clients. Always have a hard copy available in case you need to e-mail a copy to someone quickly.

2. Q&A Sheets

This Q&A sheet is the perfect way that you and another networker can learn more about each others business. By filling out the sheet completely, you instantly learn all you need to know about their business, and they yours. This way you won't forget any key details when the chance to make that referral arises.

3. The Testimonial Letter

One of the most effective ways to show others the overall quality of your business is by having testimonial letters. Keep the hard copies and then post them to your website. If you have social media profiles like LinkedIn, ask other clients in your network to begin to recommend you and your services.

4. Images of Your Facility, Staff, Products, Awards

A professional image of yourself can really make the difference on your business cards and social media profiles. Being able to put a face to the business can really help people to connect with you more on an emotional level. Collect as many images of your facility, awards, staff, and keep them all organized either on your website or in a brochure you can hand out.

5. Detailed Explanation of Your Business

You should have plenty of material that gives people an in depth look inside your company. These items range from mission statements, annual reports, or a clearly written out history of the business from start-up to now. All these documents help to give more credibility to your company.

6. New Product Announcements

While you are networking, make certain these people who could become potential customers are always informed of the latest releases of products or services you have. Announcements and press releases and a great way to keep them informed, and can either be posted online or handed out at network meetings. You should always have plenty of current brochures on hand that showcase your latest products in case you meet someone that can connect you with a new group of customers.

7. Membership Affiliations

When you meet someone for the first time, it can be very helpful to show them your business affiliations and discuss any mutual acquaintances. This could open the door to a new introduction to someone in those organisations that you have been trying to meet for the longest time. Now you have an opportunity to meet them through your new contact.

8. Any Articles That Mention Your Name

Articles that have your name published in them are excellent resources for showcasing the world that you are an authority in your niche. Many potential clients simply want to only do business with people who are perceived as experts in their field.

9. Showcase Recent Projects

If you happen to meet a prospective client at a networking event, showcasing recently completed projects can help break the ice. Your potential customer may have a specific need that is similar to some recent jobs that you have completed. You can demonstrate that you really are an authority in that field if you have competed work at hand.

10. Trends In Your Industry

When you are on top of all the trends taking place in your industry, you are in a better position to have a more targeted conversion with new clients. Discuss the latest trends in a way that is relevant to each person and offer some advice to clients that utilise your services. By staying up on current news in your industry, it shows that you are knowledgable about your business.

IS WORD OF MOUTH WORKING FOR YOU?

At Roundhouse, we understand how word of mouth marketing can increase your profitability. People trust others in their network. If you are personally recommended to by a trusted associate, friend or family member - you have greatly increased your chances of conversion. 5 Top Design Tips for Social Media Success

by Saul Edmonds

Top 5 Social Media Design Tips

“My goal is to spark something within the reader and allow it to initiate an idea they then can grow.” Warren Whitlock

Use Design to Boost Your Social Media Impact

When it comes to getting your posts noticed on your social media profiles, you really have to be a little creative to grab the attention of your audience.

By creating content that attracts attention, your information is more likely to be shared among their inner circle, helping to spread the word much more easily.

Using branded design as a foundation for your social media campaign - will help you to achieve your goals much more easily and will help to position you as an authority in your niche as well.

Rather than just adding pictures to your posts, there are a few guidelines for creating more professional looking posts.

Here are five simple social media graphic design tips for creating compelling posts.

Tip #1: Design with Contrast

The easiest way to get your design noticed is by adding a little contrast to make it jump off the page. Before you simply post a graphic on your social media wall, consider the colors used and how you can add contrasting colors to help bring it to life. Choose certain colors that always contrast well. If the background of the graphic is white or light color, then consider using a dark font to draw in attention more easily.

Tip #2: The Font Palette

The font style in your graphic design can have a huge impact. If your company already has a font that you use for your brand, make certain to use that same font style in the header of the graphic. The surround it with a more subtle and plain font when adding subtitles. When the header font matches your brand, you help to build familiarity with you and your customers more easily.

Tip #3: The Color Scheme

One of the ways to grab attention and keep your posts consistent with your company is to use colors that are associated with your company logo. If your business uses two colors to help identify your brand, incorporate those colors into your social media graphic designs. Take two or three of the main colors of your brand and either use in the fonts or the border of your images. This will help associate the posts more closely to your business.

Tip #4: Eliminate Floating Images

Never just post an image or design directly to your social media platform without first adding some background or a border to it. A picture without a border simply appears to be floating on your page, and looks just like every other picture being posted by millions of people each day. Take the time to add a contrasting border to add a more professional look to your post.

Tip #5: Keeping it Simple

It can be easy to get carried away when it comes to adding graphics to your posts on social media. With so many colors, fonts, styles, and borders to choose from, adding too much clutter will reduce the impact of your message. Keep it simple and remember that 'less is more' when it comes to graphic design.

Your message will come across more easily if you keep design techniques to a minimum.

5 Top Ways to Boost Content Engagement

by Saul Edmonds

Learn 5 Tips to Increasing Visitor Engagement

Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.
Benjamin Franklin

Give People What They Want and Boost Engagement

It is one thing to create content on your website for the purpose of attracting visitors, it is another thing to get people to actually read it.

Recent studies have shown that the average reader stays focused on a page for little more than seven seconds.

If you want to increase the time span for which your readers are engaged in your content, you need to make use of these 5 tips to make your content stand out effectively.

1. Knowing What Your Readers Want

The easiest way to increase the time that your readers spend on your website - genuinely engaged in your content - is simply by delivering the material that they want to read.

If you are not using some sort of analytics system on your website, now is the time. Review your analytics to see which web pages are most popular with your visitors.

Rinse and repeat once you find those pages that have the highest number of views. Add new content and monitor which pages get the best response - then simply tailor your information to meet the interests of your audience.

2. Inform Your Audience How Long the Content is

If you inform the audience up front about the content on the page, they are more likely to read it.

If you can calculate how long the average reader will need to read the piece, tell the audience in the description so they can get a better understanding of how much time needs to be invested to complete the entire article.

Even if the content does not appear to be that compelling, if the reader knows in advance it is only a two minute article, they are more inclined to stay around and finish reading.

3. Make Your Content Shareable

You might be surprised to know that more people are relying heavily on the opinion of others with regards to choosing the content they read.

Social media has really brought this issue to the forefront.

If a person reads an article and feels it has some value, they share it on their social media profiles.

When an article is shared by a friend through social media, it is more likely that others within their social network will also read that article. That inner circle of friends, coworkers, and family members - will see the post and feel compelled to read it as it came highly recommended from someone they trust.

If you do not have social media buttons on your website, now is the time to implement them. These buttons make it simple for anyone to click and share all your content with their online network.

4. Breaking It Up

Use headlines and subheadings throughout your articles. This makes it easier for people to read your content.

If you want to keep your audience engaged on your website - actively reading your content - you have to make it easy for them to be able to read it.

If the article is presented as one giant paragraph - with no page breaks, no titles, and no subheadings - chances are that your visitor will quickly click to another page.

The key here is to break up your article content into smaller paragraphs with headings for each.

This enables your content to be read faster, and is particularly important for those who simply want to scan the article. Try to incorporate some high quality images into the article layout to break it up visually and provide an additional point of interest.

5. Going Mobile

In a study conducted last year, it was shown that over 60% of mobile phone & tablet users are actively engaging in content online.

These users are shopping, reading, browsing, and playing games online via their mobile devices.

With such a large portion of the population using their smartphones and tablets to access content - your website must be optimised for mobile technology or you risk losing readers.

Ensure your content is optimised for reading on all mobile devices.

Implement these simple ways to increase engagement in your content. The end result will be more time spent on your website, and ultimately more clients, leads and sales.

IS YOUR CONTENT ENGAGING YOUR AUDIENCE?

At Roundhouse, we understand how a successful content marketing strategy must be closely aligned with the needs of your audience. Taking the time to carefully customise your content will result in higher levels of engagement and in time, increased sales. 4 Top Ways to Get Your Customers to Open Emails

by Saul Edmonds

4 Simple Ways to Boost Your Email Opening Rates

Email, instant messaging, and cell phones give us fabulous communication ability, but because we live and work in our own little worlds, that communication is totally disorganized.
Marilyn vos Savant

Easy Ways to Get More Customers To Open Your Emails

In order to be successful with email marketing, your subscribers have to open those messages.

If your audience is not opening your emails - they aren't taking action.

This means they are not clicking through to your website and making purchases either.

How can you possibly keep your audience excited about opening up your email messages on a regular basis?

Here are 4 successful techniques that will help the buyer to be more receptive to your email messages:

1. Solving a Big Problem

If you found out that a newsletter had information in it that would solve a problem that you had, you would certainly subscribe to that mailing list. If the sender of that email set up those expectations and then delivered on the goods, you would open more of those messages as they arrived.

This is precisely what your company needs to do in order to get more subscribers to open the emails.

Use your email message to provide a solution to a specific problem that is relevant to your niche audience. An email marketing strategy that is dedicated to providing solutions will experience higher open rates.

2. Save Customers Money

Use key words to indicate savings or discount offers. People are always interested in messages that help them to save money.

Sales events and discount codes offer your customers opportunities to get the items or services that they need at a deep discount. That means more money in their pocket, so they open the email to learn more. If your email message talks about savings, you have a better chance of it getting opened.

3. Make Your Customer Smarter

Your customers are constantly learning every day. They welcome any information that will help them understand more.

If your email message showcases how investing a few minutes of time will deliver real benefit in the future - they will take the time to read your message.

Many people are genuinely searching for ways to increase their skills each day, reading publications, newsletters, and taking online courses. Giving your customers some unique tips on how to improve key areas of business will certainly improve your open rates.

Rather than using email as a platform for selling, aim to convince your readers that your information will provide them with the opportunity to gain insight into key areas. Stop trying to sell and focus more on trying to inform your subscribers.

4. Entertaining Your Audience

Consider mixing things up by adding the element of fun into your email messages.

This helps to put a face on your business, and it also mixes things up with your emails.

Rather than sending one email after another with sales related products, put some entertainment in the message. You will come to find that the emails that get the most clicks and shares are the ones that offer the most entertainment.

Making Email Work For You

Craft your email messages to deliver a unique combination of savings and entertainment for your subscribers. Mix things up and keep the content fresh.

Take the time to rethink your email marketing plan and strive to deliver quality emails that consistently deliver value. Your subscribers will welcome the change immediately. You will notice more of your content gets shared and that a new fan base starts to grow.

IS EMAIL MARKETING WORKING FOR YOU?

At Roundhouse, we know that email marketing is a proven way to boost sales. It provides an easy and cost effective way for you to keep in touch with customers - and enables your company to be 'top of mind' when next they come to buy. How to Brand Your Company Like it Really Matters

by Saul Edmonds

Learn How to Brand Your Company For Success

The keys to brand success are self-definition, transparency, authenticity and accountability.
Simon Mainwaring

Your Vision, Your Belief, Your Brand

Every great company starts with the same basic principles:

  • a great product followed by a vision
  • a belief that you can add something of value to the world

The next logical step is simply getting people to discover your services, get to know your brand and make a purchase.

However, the world is changing fast.

Technology has changed the way many business owners brand their company, and buyers today are much more savvy when it comes to opening up their wallets.

Most business owners are still employing techniques that worked for them years ago, in the hopes it will still bring in new customers. The only way to effectively reach your audience today is by creating a brand that people can relate to on an emotional level.

Starting With the Why

In order to attract new customers you have to understand why the customer is shopping for your products or services.

They can buy the same item from a huge variety of stores, so why should they choose your store? Why does the customer matter? Why do they need this product?

All these why questions provide answers that can help you to brand your company like it matters. Many business owners skip this important step, and they are left wondering why the customers stop coming to them.

Start Asking Better Questions

Here are some questions you should be asking yourself if you want to understand how your business relates to your customers. If you can find the answer to these questions, you can better position your company so that it becomes the go-to resource when a product or service is needed. This is easily accomplished by getting your clients emotionally involved in your unique story.

Start your story by asking these key questions:

1. Why does your business matter?
2. How is your business different?
3. How is the world a better place because of your business?
4, Why should the client choose your business over the competition?
5. How do you set yourself apart from all your competitors?
6. Do you really value your customers?
7. What is the core belief of the business?

The New World Order

One thing you have to understand about business today is that customers have ready access to information. If they want to research your business or your competition, they can do so quickly. They can compare apples and oranges in seconds, and for this reason your branding story needs to stand out if you want to attract the lion share of the business.

With all that information just a few clicks away, remember that your customers are people, not numbers. Seek to connect on an emotional level rather than by facts and figures alone.

Experience Does Matter

With all the noise on the internet, you have to find other ways to stand out in the crowd.

Create a strategy that gets your message to the top of the mountain by branding your business with a unique story. Rather than tell them that you are the best, show them why you are the best. Your story should discuss a specific solution - and then showcase how your company fulfils that solution.

Integrate and Integrate and Then Integrate

Adding more content and more products to your website is not the answer to getting more business.

The way to succeed today is with the power of integration and teamwork. Everyone on your team needs to work as one, from the designers, developers, strategists, and salespeople. By working together, a better story can be developed and everyone in the company can live and breathe that philosophy each day.

People today want to feel excited about what they buy. They have more control over the buying process today, and they can choose from a large variety of brands and compare them with the click of a mouse. With all that information overload, your message needs to be more important to them than the name. They need to get to the point where they feel they can not live without your product or service.

That emotional attachment to your brand is how you will separate your company from the crowd.

IS YOUR BRAND WORKING FOR YOU?

At Roundhouse, we believe that your brand represents the heart and soul of your business. Branding is the foundation stone that integrates your story, your mission and your message - with your professional image. A logo is just one part of your brand. It is the story behind the logo that really matters. If you want to learn more about how strategic branding can grow your opportunity, please contact us for an informal chat.

How To Use The Power of Storytelling To Grow Your Business

by Saul Edmonds

Why Storytelling is Smarter Marketing

Storytelling is important. Part of human continuity.
           Robert Redford

How To Use Storytelling to Cut Through the Noise

Effective marketing is all about being able to engage your potential customers and create proactive brand believers.

This is how you gain more fans for just about everything that you sell.

Storytelling can play a big part in attracting and growing your customer base.

It helps to identify your core values in the company, and more importantly, it makes it much easier for the audience to share the story with family, coworkers and friends. If you were told the statistics of a company versus a unique story about how they saved the day - or overcame a significant challenge - chances are you will remember the story.

Make Your Mission Statement Work

The core belief behind your company story should reflect your mission statement.

Whether you are selling cars or computers, the story of your business is a very powerful tool that will elevate the business from ordinary to extraordinary. More businesses are starting to realise that in order to connect with a customer, you have to first identify with that customer.

If the story of your business addresses a problem that the customer can relate to, then your business can solve their problem more easily. Your business doesn't have to be like the competition, highlighting all those bullet points and statistics. Make the story of your business is more enjoyable and easier to remember.

Use Storytelling To Solve a Problem

The stories that your business tells should always address a need that your audience has, then show the customers how your product or service provides the best solution for that problem.

By creating a problem in advance, it is easier for you to develop a story where your company comes in and saves the day. When your story has some human elements to it that evoke emotion, it can really leave a memorable message with your audience. These messages are something your customers care about, not statistics and bullet points. Those bullet points don't solve a problem, the story does.

Great Stories Need Emotion

Great stories take the reader on a roller coaster of emotions.

Every story needs a hero:

The story begins with the hero discovering that the villain is standing in the way. The hero tries everything to defeat the villain, only to find the villain is much stronger and harder to defeat than initially thought. Throughout the story the hero looks for possible solutions, to only fall flat each time. Finally towards the end of the story, just when it looked like the villain has won, the hero uses your products or services and defeats the villain.

Engaging the reader in this manner is easier for them to connect with and to relate to. it also makes it easier for the reader to take the store and expand on it as they tell their friends.

Easy Ways To Develop Your Storyline

Think out loud for a minute about a product or service that you cannot live without.

Think about the company that provides that service or product and now compare their story to yours. If you cannot live without their service, what was it about their story that hooked you as a customer for life? Identify what their story does and how their products are directly related to the story they tell.

Your goal should be to get to that top spot and become the business or service your customers cannot live without.

If you are struggling with your story, ask yourself a few of these questions to get you on the right path.

  • Are your thoughts advancing an idea or concept?
  • Are all your thoughts actionable?
  • Are your thoughts commercially relevant?
  • Can you say your idea is new and fresh?
  • Will your thoughts get customers to take action?

This is a long term process and not something that happens after one brainstorming session. You might be surprised to know that over 60% of your audience has been waiting almost a year to make a choice or a decision. If your story in compelling enough, you can help those people who have difficulty making decisions finally close the deal.

Focus on your message being informative rather than always looking for something in return. if you solve a problem, you gain a customer for the long haul who will tell your story to everyone they come in contact with.

3 Ways to Use Storytelling To Create Brand Value

by Saul Edmonds

How to Boost Brand Value With Storytelling

Storytelling is the game. It's what we all do. It's why Nike is Nike, it's why Apple is Apple, it's why Walt Disney built Disney World and it's why Vince McMahon makes a billion dollars.
Gary Vaynerchuk

Why Storytelling Will Create Brand Value for Your Business

When your business has a compelling story, it makes it easier to create word-of-mouth awareness in your industry.

If the story can add character or colour to your business, it will be able to resonate with your audience on a deeper level. This will help them to remember and then tell your story to their inner circle.

Your company must have a story behind it in order to be successful. That story is a way that your customers can in a sense sell your business for you.

Create a great story, then your customers do the leg work in bringing the story to life. The story that you tell of your business must spark the imagination of your customers so they can touch, hear, see, and smell the story like it was happening in front of them. This story will set you apart from your competition if you do it correctly.

Here are three important things to consider that will help your company to sculpt a memorable story that will resonate longer with your target audience and help to set your business apart.

1. There Must Be a Protagonist

For a story to be successful, it simply has to have a hero. Someone that everyone will look up to and help make the story more memorable.

This hero needs to be someone that the customer can easily relate to. The protagonist is an everyday person just like you and me. They may be experiencing a problem, and they are on the lookout for that solution. Now here comes along your company that is able to provide a service or product that will help solve that problem.

The key here is to make the hero connect with your audience.

2. There Must Be an Antagonist

Now in this story, in order for it to connect with your audience, you have to have an antagonist too. The antagonist is the challenge in your unique story.

Effective storytelling demands that there be challenges to be overcome.

The key challenge in your story is met by the hero. To make your business successful, you have to be able to solve the problem. Your product or services are going to be the solution, so include them in your story in an engaging way. Through the telling of your story, your customers learn how you can address their problems and provide real solutions.

3. Creating That "AHA" Moment

The "AHA" moment of your story is when your product or services are introduced.

Your services provide the solution - and the story is complete. Your audience connects you with a positive experience. Your business is instantly escalated into their minds in a way they identify with. They begin to embellish on the story and before long your company is legendary.

Take the time to try and shape your unique story so that it will better resonate with your potential customers and give them the opportunity want to share it with others. This is how your company will stand apart from the competition.

IS STORYTELLING WORKING FOR YOUR BUSINESS?

At Roundhouse, we understand the power of a great story. Telling your story effectively and consistently via your brand and marketing initiatives - is a cost effective way to stand out from your competitors and gain traction with customers. People love stories. Make yours a memorable one.

6 Easy Ways to Keep Your Clients Happy

by Saul Edmonds

6 Great Ways to Keep Every Client Happy

The best customer service is if the customer doesn't need to call you, doesn't need to talk to you. It just works.
Jeff Bezos

Learn Why A Happy Client is A Priceless Asset To Your Business

When you own your own business, you have a long list of people that you have to keep happy each day.

That list goes on to include those clients and customers that are actually responsible for making your business successful.

Not only is your business dependent on those customers for revenue, your company enjoys those feelings of accomplishment from helping a client with their needs to grow their business as well.

That being said, there are plenty of ways that you can keep those clients happy. Here are just the top 6 to help you on your way.

1. Paying Close Attention

In order to keep your customers happy you have to be able to anticipate their needs.

You should already know their expectations and pick up on certain patterns or habits that they have. If your customer always places the same order at the same key times of the year, reach out to them before the order to let them know you are aware it is that time and you want to be sure to service all their needs in case anything has changed. If you can reach out to a customer before they ask a certain question, you give them that feeling of confidence that they are working with the right company for the long haul.

2. Anticipate Your Client's Day

Take the time to understand how the day unfolds for your client.

Depending on the stresses of the job they have, be sympathetic to their situation and try to remember that during your correspondence with them. If you already know that Wednesday is a really busy day for them, don't send them many emails on a Wednesday and get anxious when they don't reply. Save those pressing issues for Thursday when you know they will be more receptive to discussion.

3. Talk to the Boss

Identify the key stakeholders in your client's business. This will ensure you connect with the decision makers - and build a stronger relationship to the company.

Make time to reach out to the manager, boss or supervisor. Do this in a way where you simply seek to introduce yourself - when you know the manager is available. If you can discover what makes the manager tick, you can meet the needs of the business more effectively.

4. Staying Ahead of the Curve

If you know that chaos is on the horizon, plan for it well in advance.

When you can plan for certain events to unfold, you lessen the need to panic when the situation arrives. This is a great opportunity for your company to come up with creative or strategic solutions to eliminate this problem in the future.

Be the initiator of the positive change and your company is more reliable in the future.

5. Owning Your Mistakes

If you make a mistake, take ownership of it immediately, not tomorrow or next week.

If you are responsible for something going wrong, call and apologize today and make it right even faster. This is not the time to play the blame game, take accountability and realise that even the best plans sometimes do not materialise the way they were thought to. Your client will appreciate your honesty and willingness to correct the error. That really can go a long way towards keeping your client happy in the future.

6. Meeting Then Exceeding Expectations

Your client expects you to deliver on your promises, but - it is when you exceed those promises that you really make the client happy.

By doing more than the client expected, you raise the bar and make it difficult for the client to consider ever working with anyone else. The only way you can gain trust and grow business relations is by giving way more in your promises that you collect in revenue.

Try to step outside the box when it comes to meeting your customers needs. When your company begins to think beyond the role they were assigned, they become the true leaders in your industry.

Take the time to consider the needs and goals of your client before they bring them to you. Many times you can win favour with the manager just by being willing to jump higher than any other company in your niche.

ARE YOU DEDICATED TO KEEPING YOUR CLIENTS HAPPY?

The Importance of Design Thinking

by Saul Edmonds

What is Design Thinking and How Can It Benefit Your Business?

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. Albert Einstein

What is the Business Value of Design Thinking?

In the past few years the term 'design thinking' has really become quite popular with academic institutions.

Even though the concept has been around for several decades, it is just now getting more popular with business owners.

Making and Doing - Not Just Thinking

One of the reasons it can be a challenge for people to wrap their heads around this concept is because it can have different meanings for different people.

The key message, however, is the that the term 'design thinking' is essentially more about doing and rather less about thinking. That is the real power of design thinking - when actively applied to the making and doing process.

The process of design thinking can help your business to overcome problems by focusing on unique strategies to overcome these issues rather than one big dominant idea to grow the business. With design thinking you attack the problem at the source, then look for individual solutions that will address the issue at hand. By creating a structured process to solve problems, you help those in the organization who are non-designers to better understand the concept.

One of the key components of design thinking is allowing everyone in the organization to be on the same page. Team dynamics can often cause a project to go off track because too many people are pulling the project in too many directions at the same time.

Why design thinking is so important is that it relies heavily on these individuals to contribute their own ideas to the project, while keeping everyone together on the collaboration. The process of design thinking has to be ever changing and evolving or it becomes stale.

Thinking Outside the Box

More companies are beginning to think outside the box when it comes to design thinking, breaking free from the traditional concepts of first having a user understanding, then the design process, followed by after action learning.

The future for design thinking is all about being able to push outside the comfort zones of the past, being able to understand more about statistical data in the design.

The future of design thinking is changing faster than any time in our history.

We now have the capability to implement tools that are designed to acquire, build, and apply certain data sets. While utilizing these programs, design thinkers and designers are able to work together more easily and predict more accurately how their combined thinking can affect the growth of the company.

From here, by using design thinking more accurately, you can scale up successes and grow the company with more predictability.

When a company utilises design thinking in their plans for growth, it has a ripple effect of creating a benefit for society as well.

Design thinking is a tool for growing your business.

5 Stress Free Tips to Outsourcing Your App Development

by Saul Edmonds

5 Top Tips to Outsource Your App Development Effectively

The other part of outsourcing is this: it simply says where the work can be done outside better than it can be done inside, we should do it.
Alphonso Jackson

Learn the 5 Tips to Outsourcing Your Next App Development

Coming up with a great app idea is only half the battle, now you have to find the right app developer to bring it to life.

It can be very frustrating when you put everything into coming up with that amazing idea, only to have it destroyed by a developer who was not up to the task and created something that was not in line with what you envisioned. Pay close attention to the developer that you find, and follow these guidelines for a seamless relationship with your new partner.

1. The developer must understand your requirements

If you want more control over the eventual finished product, be as specific with the details early on in the development process.

The more details that you can provide, the easier it will be for the developer to come up with winning solutions, set timelines and cost effective pricing. Keep in mind that your project will only be as effective as the directions that you give to the developer.

2. Crystal clear means spending less money

If your directions are less than precise, your developer is going to fill in those voids along the way with their expertise. If there are several voids, they are going to be inputting quite a lot to the overall app design. Then if you find you don't like something - the developer has to go back and undo the work and implement new coding. This all takes time and that all means more money in the end.

When you are crystal clear as to the direction of the project, there will be less times the developer has to make judgement calls.

3. The timeline breakdowns are key

Once you have provided the developer with clear instructions, it is their responsibility to step up and provide you timeline breakdowns for the entire project. If you request the timeline while still early in the process, the developer will be on the same page as you and ensure that all things are completed in a timely manner.

This is also a great way to eliminate some of the worry you may have each week wondering when your project will be completed. If you understand in advance how the process will be unfolding, you and everyone else involved can breathe much easier.

4. The build intervals

One of the ways that you and your team can ensure everything is moving according to plan is by taking part in the build intervals.

Each step along the way, if all team members take part in the process, everyone can ensure it is moving according to plan.

The best way for the project to stay on course is by stopping at designated time to inspect that everything is coming along as expected. This should continue happening right up to the beta stage of the development. Then things will begin moving even faster, and more input will be needed from your end to complete the app.

A few revisions along the way is expected.

The developer will most likely hit a few bumps in the road where they tried to implement a fix. If these fixes are not in line with the overall project, the developer will make those changes now and get the project nearer to the final stage.

5. Collaborative effort on all sides

Even though the developer has more experience, they need to be involved in the thinking process and creative goals of your project. This will ensure they understand why the app was developed and which emotion needs it needs to trigger in the user.

Your app is eventually going to connect to the audience on an emotional level too, so informing the developer as to those feelings involved will give them a better understanding when they are working on the functionality of the app.

Once your developer understand these aspects of the build, they will be in a better position to help make your idea a reality. That initial concept will now be able to come to life in your new app.

How To Build Your Brand Around a Single, Strong Idea

by Saul Edmonds

Brand Building and The Power of A Single, Strong Idea

Your premium brand had better be delivering something special, or it's not going to get the business.
Warren Buffett

Define Your Key Brand Idea

The key to every successful business is to do something extremely well and then simply refine the process and do it again.

Developing your brand message can help to grow your business more effectively.

To define your brand message - simply identify your key brand concept - and make certain that your brand centers around the core beliefs of that idea. Coming up with that one great idea is actually straightforward. It is in the execution of this idea that many business owners miss the mark.

Here is how you can take your key brand idea idea and bring it to reality.

Ideas First - Get Thinking!

The first thing that you need is the idea.

That is the easy part because there are literally millions of great brand ideas out there. Focus on a single idea you can focus the core beliefs of your company around.

It is then that the hard work actually begins.

So now you have a great idea to use! Is it unique, transformative, and significant enough to engage your customers and motivate them to buy?

If you answered 'yes', the next thing you will need is to develop a strategy for bringing that idea to life. In order for it to work, you must have those steps carefully laid out so you can implement that strategy and keep track of your progress along the way.

Ideas Are Your Best Asset

Even if you feel that your idea might be a limitation because it has a narrow focus, consider that an asset.

Most small businesses cannot compete with large corporations because the bigger companies can continue to draw on their endless resources to make things work. The advantage that a small business has is a 'laser sharp' focus on a key idea that they simply must make work. This 'laser sharp' focus is what brings the idea to reality. Transformative ideas need passion, belief and commitment to work. This is much more powerful that simply throwing money at ideas until one sticks.

Larger is Not Always Better

A clear focus on one key idea enables your small business to do what it does best - providing genuine 'one to one' service to your customers and delivering on your promises.

This is where the larger companies often miss the mark because their customer service just seems to fall between the cracks. Remember that the larger company is going to spend great resources to monitor thousands of different product lines, while the small business owner is focused on that one proprietary subject that most of their consumers will easily understand.

Think Strategic Niche Marketing

Think about it this way.

There might be several of your competitors offering a variety of services to customers.

If you choose one of those services and focus on being the leader in that service, you can attract people looking exactly for that service. Then they find other things you are good at after you have converted them. The competition is focused on telling the world they offer dozens of different services, and you come in and tell the world you are the leader in one.

As an example, consider this scenario:

There are thousands of companies that sell a huge variety of clothing in their stores. They run flyers each week focusing on discounts across all the product lines. You come in and focus on making the best shirts in the industry. These shirts fit better, look better, and are priced lower. You attract a large audience who comes to trust in your shirts. Now you show them t-shirts, ties, shoes, and they already believe your products are great because your reputation precedes you.

Make a Positive Statement To Your Customers

Ensure that your customers feel positive about using your products or services.

Focus on the feeling you want your customers to experience, and let this inform all areas of your business. The customer needs to know exactly what your brand represents and how it can help them better their way of life.

Inspire Long Term Loyalty in Your Customers

A clear focus on one single idea - ensures you build your brand to strategically represent what is most important. It is via this key, vital message - that you want to be known by to your customers.

There is a huge reward in the clarity that comes with focusing on single idea -  and really and using that idea as the foundation of your brand marketing. That reward is loyalty!

5 Strategic Ways to Convert Your First Customer

by Saul Edmonds

How to Get Your First Customer And Give Your Business A Flying Start

Best results are often achieved well before you need a job, by consistently networking so that when you find yourself job-hunting you have a large network to work with.
Erik Qualman

How to Find Your Very First Customer

The difference between a start-up company and a start-up idea is the paying customers.

Some of the first customers to buy your products or services are a very rare breed indeed. They do not need to read testimonials in order to jump aboard, they are sympathetic to mistakes, and they are extremely patient. These are customers who are willing to pay for your product or service, even though you do not have any track record of sales and lack any experience.

Depending on the products or services you sell, here are 5 unique ways that you can entice your first customer to make a purchase with you.

1. Using All Your Relationships

Making cold calls when you are first in business is extremely difficult.

It is even more of a challenge to sell something that is either brand new or innovative.

The key to getting that first sale is to meet with people who have some sort of connection with you. Make a list of all the associates that you have even crossed paths with, and these will be your first prospects when it comes to reaching out to find your first customer.

Use your existing relationships that have any connection to the business world. If you can get introduced to just one business owner who is sympathetic to your journey, you could be well on your way to your first business sale.

2. Seek Out Your Prospect's Network

Try to find someone who has a relationship with a person you are trying to connect with, and make that person someone you meet or introduce yourself to.

Use this person as a recommendation when you muster up the strength to send your first client a message. Simply drop the name in the letter as you would an acquaintance.

Communicate in a friendly manner and see if you can arrange a meeting with them at a later date.

3. Focus on the Positive

When you speak with a person who has the potential to become your first customer, be ready to answer their questions in a positive manner.

If the questions focus around how long you have been in business or how many customers do you currently have, answer them in a positive way. Instead of real world customers, use the personal recommendations of family and friends. Take the focus off the fact you are still new in the industry. By accentuating the positive, you promote confidence and professionalism.

4. Creating Credible Partnerships

In the beginning, you have no professional credibility or referrals.

This is the time to use the credibility of a trusted company to help you to get your first customer.

Look for organisations that your potential customers already trust - perhaps a company or brand that they are familiar with. Now contact those companies and offer your services or products free of charge - in exchange for a public endorsement. You might be surprised how effective this is when you are first starting out in business.

5. Become Your Own Expert

Early in the game when you do not have any sort of track record - the next best thing is being an expert in your industry. Once a potential customer begins to trust you as an industry expert, they are closer than ever to making a purchase from you.

Develop real world experience so you can walk the walk after you talk the talk. Then once you have developed your expertise, get to Facebook and Twitter and tell the world.

Once you get that first customer, it will literally breathe life into your future efforts.

4 Keys to Effective Networking

by Saul Edmonds

4 Simple Ways to Network More Effectively

Personal relationships are always the key to good business. You can buy networking; you can't buy friendships.
Lindsay Fox

Discover These Simple Networking Fundamentals

When it comes to networking for your business, you have to be willing to get creative in order to get the best results.

It can be more difficult than ever to stand out in a crowd.

The secret to networking effectively for your business comes down to 4 simple fundamentals.

These networking basics will help your company to benefit and grow from personal business referrals.

1. Learn to Be Selective

Rather than simply allowing everyone and anyone into your networking circle, you need to be more selective about your choices.

Those networking relationships should include professionals in the business world who are supportive, positive, and creative at the same time. The key however, is choosing from a group of people who are exceptional at what they do.

The quality of your networking is dependent on the quality of your relationships. Look at it this way, if the network is over a mile long but only a few inches deep, you will never get the types of referrals you are expecting.

It is absolutely critical that you build professional relationships that are meaningful and will last for a significant amount of time.

2. Adding New People Continuously

There is one thing that is constant when it comes to gaining referrals from your networking group: namely, the number of quality referrals is in direct relation to the size of your group.

During a year, professionals in your network may leave for whatever reason. You need to continually add new quality professionals to your group in order to keep those numbers up.

The greater number of those connections that you have, the higher the number of referrals you are eventually going to receive. If you are getting an average number of referrals right now, simply add some more members to the group and those numbers will climb in direct relation to the size of the group.

3. Try to Seek Engagement

In order for any network to be successful, the group has to promise to work with each other on improving relationships for the entire group.

When one person succeeds, the entire group needs to succeed as well.

One of the ways to become engaged with the group is to simply meet with those people in your network more often.

You need to educate those people all about the key features of your particular business so that your services and products will be on the top of their mind if they run into anyone who might be in line for those types of services. You must also learn to educate yourself on the key features of other members needs, so you can quickly refer them if the opportunity ever presents itself.

The more people in your group that are actively engaged in learning more about others, the better your group will generate more quality referrals. This is how you go from just an average networking group to one that consistently is rewarding members with a never ending stream of new business.

4. Learn to Share Stories

Pay close attention to the stories being told by others in your professional referral network.

That information being shared by your partners is great for you to develop into stories for potential business opportunities.

If a network member goes into detail about a story about how they saw a problem with a client and they were able to provide a real unique solution for solving the issue, remember this when you run into a customer who has the same problem. You can relate to them the story you just heard in your own words, and get that referral sent over quickly. Encouraging members to listen to your stories will put them in position to do the same if the situation is reversed.

One of the things about a good story is that is captivates the audience, helping to compel them to take action.

If you are serious about building referrals within the network, story telling needs to be placed at the top of the group to-do list.

The simple truth is that the facts tell, but the stories sell.

IS 'TELLING YOUR STORY' AT THE HEART OF YOUR PERSONAL NETWORKING STRATEGY?

At Roundhouse, we understand that by telling your unique story - you immediately stand out in your industry. We focus on what is it that makes you and your business unique - and we work to find ways to use your story to inform and educate your customers and network about your services and products. 4 Ways to Win More Customers

by Saul Edmonds

4 Ways to Boost Your Marketing and Get The Attention You Deserve!

Never forget that you only have one opportunity to make a first impression - with investors, with customers, with PR, and with marketing.
Natalie Massenet

Learn How to Captivate Your Audience

Whether your business is brand new or you have been in the industry for decades, gaining exposure and new customers is always at the top of the marketing to-do list.

Trying to figure out how to get more people engaged in your marketing campaign is key, and will eventually be the catalyst to your success.

The challenge for you as a business owner is cutting through all that excessive noise that is distracting your customers from your messages.

Here are 4 unique ways that you can market your company and captivate a larger audience.

1. Focusing on Value Not Features

The traditional way of marketing a product or service is to focus on all the features.

These messages that tout features alone simply put you in the mix with all those other companies promoting the same products and features.

To stand out in the crowd, focus on creating specific messages that are designed to tell the customer what value they will receive from using the product or service. Rather than simply regurgitating the features over and over like every other business, you focus on how this is benefiting your customer in the end.

2. Be Sure to Mention the Why

Many people start a business for a reason that is often bigger then they are.

Begin your marketing efforts with identifying the reasons why you began your business, and expand upon that idea.

Try to communicate with your audience in a unique way to stand apart from your competitors. The aim is to attract like-minded individuals who connect with your message in a genuine way. Strive to identify a core message that will resonate with your niche audience. For example, if your started your business to fix a problem, use that message to market your business.

3. Develop Unique & Personal Ways to Approach Messaging

Start thinking about your customers in terms of unique personas.

The key here is to develop a persona from the ground up, asking key questions about what this type of customers does, thinks, buys, etc, and then approaching your marketing from the position of addressing the concerns of that specific buyer.

Imagine that this customer is actually a close friend of yours, and write your unique marketing message as if you were addressing that friend. Your messages will be more personal, and will connect on a deeper level with your audience.

Make the effort to think outside the box. Strive to understanding your customers, and develop marketing strategies that are fine-tuned to meet their unique needs.

4. Storytelling is the Answer

Take a close look at a your business from an objective point of view.

You might discover that when you look at it this way, low end companies in your industry do not differ much from the giants in your industry. With more competition joining the ranks each day, it is difficult to stay on the top of any industry. The internet has given anyone with a dream and a computer the ability to compete on a global scale with any company. With the right marketing strategies - a small operator can successfully compete with industry leaders.

Above all, storytelling is the key to a memorable marketing message. Consistently share your message & tell your unique story to remain in the mind of your audience.

One of the things to consider when trying to market to a larger audience is - that philosophy of your company must become the cornerstone of the marketing message. Your buyer must believe that your company lives and breathes this message each day.

Standing out as a unique brand is achievable with the right strategy in place.

If you dig deep into the heart and soul of your business and find things that your competition cannot replicate, you stand a much better chance at convincing the world about your brand.

IS YOUR BUSINESS GETTING THE ATTENTION YOU DESERVE?

At Roundhouse, we work to understand the story behind your business. We get to know you, your business, your customers and your goals. How to Increase Your Business Revenue Without Actually Selling

by Saul Edmonds

Smart Ways to Increase Business Revenues Without Selling

So long as new ideas are created, sales will continue to reach new highs.
                 Dorothea Brande

Why Building Customer Loyalty Should Be Your First Priority

One of the biggest mistakes that many business owners make is - believing that after they have successfully converted a visitor to a loyal customer, the marketing efforts end.

This should never be the case.

Your competition is aggressively looking to take away any and all of your business as quickly as they can. Marketing effectively to your customers should be a series of strategic actions that build the trust of the customer while motivating them to buy again. Stopping your marketing efforts is placing a limitation on future sales opportunities.

Get to Know Your Sales Funnel

Just about every business owner has seen a sales funnel image at one point or another.

The sales funnel is basically a visual representation that shows many leads coming in towards the bigger opening of the funnel, where only a small amount of loyal customers emerge through the opening at the bottom.

The problem for you as a business owner is understanding where those customers go after they have fallen out of your sales funnel.

To address this, the average business owner will add customers into an e-mail list where people receive an occasional newsletter or sales flyer. This is not the only way to continue the relationship with a customer who is already familiar with you and your services. The hard work is already done, you have them as a customer, now you need to invest in proactive marketing efforts to get them to act more frequently.

Discover An Inverted Sales Funnel

The best way to increase revenues without actually doing any selling is by creating an inverted sales funnel.

An inverted sales funnel has the tiny opening at top and the big opening at the bottom.

This particular type of funnel will focus on turning your existing customers into branding evangelists. If you can master this technique, you can generate much more revenue than you could ever do with a traditional sales funnel.

The reason why the inverted funnel is so effective is because you are now offering increased value to a customer who has bought from you before.

Provide Service To Your Customers For The Long Term

Put strategies into place to provide ongoing service to your customers to win their loyalty for the long term.

Firstly, use your website to it's full advantage. Ensure that the content on your website is of the highest quality, and is updated regularly. A company blog is ideal for this.

Your audience needs to see that there is significant value in your blog posts, to keep them engaged and help them to grow their own businesses. Your information should help your customers to solve a problem that they currently have, and if you do it correctly, they will use your website like a revolving door.

You can give your customers even more value by sharing additional content or information. Some cost effective ideas here include:

1. Give away an e-book that solves a problem. This offer could go a long way in helping to solidify your relationship with your customers. It also helps to position you as a leader in your industry.

2. Free webinars are an effective tool for communicating information to your clients. Your customers will also appreciate being able to put a face to your business. A webinar allows them to interact with you via the Q&A forum.

3. Social media has literally transformed the way business owners market their businesses. Take this to the next level by communicating directly with your existing clients. Follow your customers on social media and add likes and shares to their content. In return, they will probably like and follow you. The door to ongoing communication is opened.

Find Ways To Communicate More

You want your customers to feel that their business is valuable to your company.

The key here is to build a special type of relationship with your current clients, that revolves around trust. Your clients need to believe and trust in the long term quality of your services and products.

Aim to build your sales funnel for the long term and achieve the success you deserve.

Why Better Web Design Means Higher Conversion Rates

by Saul Edmonds

Discover How Quality Web Design Increases Your Bottom Line

Eventually everything connects - people, ideas, objects. The quality of the connections is the key to quality per se.
Charles Eames

Why Better Website Design Leads To More Sales

The single biggest metric used on a website to determine overall success or failure is your conversion rates.

  • The higher the conversion rate, the more sales your company will enjoy.

In order to convert those visitors into loyal customers, you need be working on areas like SEO, relevant content, advertising, social media, and of course your web design.

Focus on web design and you can see those conversion rates take an upturn very quickly. Then you can focus on those others areas at a steady pace.

Here are a few principles of good web design that will help improve your conversion rates.

The Power of Usability

  • Take a good look at your website from the eyes of your potential customers.

Is the website user friendly or is it intuitive?

In order to increase conversions on your website you have to be working on both of those key elements. The easier a person can perform tasks on your website, the easier they can get to the business of buying. When a person arrives on your website for the very first time, they will be able to determine within seconds whether or not to continue or tho click the back button.

  • During the design of your website, take some tips from your competition.

Place some items in the cart at those websites and see which features you loved and which only slowed down the process. Incorporate those features into your website, using the best of the best.

Improved Design Features

There are certain features you can implement into the design that will have a direct impact on the conversion rates.

These features will nudge the visitor along so that they wind up on the product page and load the cart with the items they need more efficiently.

  • Large headings and verb oriented call to action buttons guide your visitors to take action.

People simply need to be told what to do in many cases, so by giving them action words on the website, it helps them to easily make a decision to move along. The key here is not cluttering up the pages - the more content on a page, the harder it is for the reader to find the information to get the process rolling.

  • Find ways to improve the load speed on your website.

Users today are used to getting information at break neck speed. if they have to wait for your pages to load, they will abandon that cart quickly and shop elsewhere.

A Rewarding Shopping Experience

  • If the colours and visuals on your website engage your visitor, the more likely they are to stay.
  • The longer they stay on your website, the better chance you have to convert them from a visitor into a customer.

Choose the right images, buttons, text, arrows - all of which should lead the buyer to those important call to action buttons.

If the design is poor, and the buyer is clicking around your website and not getting anywhere, you risk your website becoming a poor buying experience. Make the checkout process smooth, ensure the website is visually pleasing to the eyes, and eliminate all that clutter.

  • Continue testing and tweaking all the features and functions on your website.

Stay informed as to what your competition is doing to improve their buyers' experience, and use those features to help improve areas where your website is lacking too.

Stop leaving money on the table by sending your customers out the door within the first few seconds of arriving on your website. If you can focus your attention on making your buyer experience a rewarding one, they will not only will love you for it, they will also tell their inner circle about you.

In a world where advertising costs a fortune, getting customers to refer you to their inner circle is the least expensive and most effective advertising there is.

7 Cost Effective Ways to Boost your Small Business Image

by Saul Edmonds

7 Inexpensive Steps to a New Image for Your Small Business

You now have to decide what 'image' you want for your brand. Image means personality. Products, like people, have personalities, and they can make or break them in the market place.
David Ogilvy

Discover simple ways to boost your brand marketing

Whether you have been in business 5 days or 5 years, your business has already made an impression on somebody.

The thing about a business image is that - contrary to popular belief - you can change and update the image or brand of your company from time to time.

Many business owners are rebranding to attract new clients, whether they need a fresh start or have expanded into a additional areas of business.

The thought of a brand makeover might seem challenging, but with a strategically updated brand design, you can change the direction of your company and reach an entirely new audience.

1. Conducting an Image Audit

Before you can take your business in a new direction, you have to already know where you stand with your customers. Take a close look at the branding within your company, looking at it from the eyes of your customers. Look at other brands that have already achieved your goals, and see how your company compares. Looking to attract a younger audience? Look for brands that already connect with that audience and note what attracts that demographic.

2. Going the Mobile Route

If your company was created before smartphones, your website may be lacking when viewed on a mobile device. Update your website to be more mobile friendly and optimise your content for the search engines. Also update the contact information on google maps so mobile users can find you using local search tools.

3. Rethinking Your Color Scheme

If you created your website theme several years back, maybe it is time to look review your colour choices to see if they seem dated. The idea of capturing your audiences attention with loud colours is not effective anymore. The colours need to part of a professional image that helps the customer feel more confident in buying from you.

4. Listen to What Your Customers are Saying

The analytics on your website will guide you as to what pages of your website getting the most favourable results. This type of feedback is very important and can help you to improve your content and increase audience engagement. Try to understand how your customers are discovering your website by way of the keywords and search terms. Build pages around the popular keywords to increase traffic from the search engines.

5. Participating in the Community

Offline efforts can also help to grow your brand. Participate in local events, promote your brand and website, and distribute as much information as you can to your local audience. Sponsor charity events or network at the local Chamber of Commerce. These are valuable and cost effective ways to get more attention for your business in a positive way. Your local customers can help escalate your efforts by sharing your information on their social media profiles.

6. Striving for Consistency

While you are expanding your new customer base, make sure that your new efforts are not in any way alienating your current customer base. If you have a significant following, consider making small periodic changes to keep consistency within your brand and image. Once you have updated the new logo, start promoting it as a fresh new image to keep previous customers on board.

7. Taking Drastic Measures

If you have made the decision to cut your losses and start from scratch, forget about consistency and focus on changing everything. Regardless of whether you are recovering from a public relations nightmare or you are not willing to continue heading in the wrong direction, pull up your boot straps and cut all ties and move forward. Maybe your business model is no longer effective because technology has completely wiped out your niche. If you were a popular VHS rental company in the 90's and still hanging on hope that the VHS will recover, consider it a lost cause and get moving the other direction before your boat is completely sunk.

Final Thoughts

Your company will not be the first or the last to have an image makeover. It is the normal process of conducting business in a fast moving and ever changing world. Thousands of business owners like yourself have made the change and are thriving today!

IS YOUR BUSINESS IMAGE WORKING FOR YOU?

Business Cards Do's and Don'ts

by Saul Edmonds

The Do's and Don'ts of Business Card Marketing

The entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity.
Peter Drucker

How to Get More Business From Your Business Card

Your company business card is a direct extension of your business.

Designed correctly, it can also be a very effective tool for marketing your company and yourself to prospective clients.

During networking seminars, your business card is your one chance to make a great impression. Chances are that each person at the seminar will receive dozens of business cards. If yours doesn't stand out, it either gets filed in a Rolodex or lost in a pile of other cards.

Designing a business card that commands attention is imperative if you want to stay on the minds of potential clients. The three keys to an effective business card are - it should be easy to understand, it should reflect your brand, and it must be professional in design.

Here are a few business card do's and don'ts that could really increase your client base and overall sales:

Business Cards Do's

1. Do Keep Things Simple

There is no need to choose fancy fonts just because they are available. Leave aside the fancy 'hard to read' fonts and focus on choosing a font that looks professional and it easy to read from a distance.

Choose a card stock color that in neutral, and then go with contrasting ink colors that bring out the best in your unique message. Beige or light gray backgrounds look great with a navy blue or black ink. Utilise more colours on your business card only if that is what your industry calls for. Artists or graphic designers use colors to stand apart from the competition and show a creative side at the same time.

2. Do Use the Back of the Card

If you are spending money on business cards, why not make use of the back of the card as well?

The reverse could be used to print your information in another language if you are working closely with a different country. One other way to use the back of the business card is to print a small calendar for the next year on it. That way, the customer can use the card for a full year, reminding them of your company each time they need to check a date or makes plans with the calendar.

3. Do Include Correct Information

Always proofread the business card several times before you send it to the printer.

They are not familiar with the spelling of last names, so take the time to check every word for spelling before signing off on it. Be sure to include all your contact information as well. In addition to your name, address, and telephone number, add your social media profiles, your email addresses, and your website.

Business Cards Don'ts

1. Don't Be Cheap

Don't try to cut corners by using cheap paper on your business cards.

If the paper is cheaply made, the potential customer will definitely realise it quickly and wonder what else about your company is lacking. Don't give them a reason to think that your services or quality of work is unprofessional. Compare what your competition is using for their business cards and make sure that you spend the money to get a good quality card stock that your information will be printed on.

2. Don't Use Common Clip Art

Common clip art does not translate well to professional print - and may seem less than professional to your customers. If your company does not have a unique brand or logo, use a clear image of yourself on the card. One other option is to pay a service to design a logo for your business, then use it on all your printed materials.

3. Don't Use Outdated Business Cards

Business cards are probably the least expensive type of advertising. If you run out, don't use old cards with outdated information. Spend the money on new cards and pay for expedited service. This is a much better option than simply handing out cards with the information crossed off and written over.

Take the time to invest in a business card design that is tailored to your business and your brand. A professionally designed business card - used in tandem with a consistent marketing strategy - with deliver you a real ROI. Grow your brand and your business with a quality business card.
